Jordan Expands Digital Control System

Apr 15, 2026

Jordan has taken a major step toward full digital integration by making digital ID mandatory for access to public services. Lawmakers approved amendments to the country’s civil status registration law, requiring citizens to use an electronic version of their national ID for interactions with both government agencies and private sector services. The system will be officially implemented once the law is finalized, marking a significant shift toward a fully digital administrative framework.

The new legislation establishes digital ID as a central requirement for everyday transactions, while also introducing a mandatory digital address system for citizens over 18. This system will be used for official communications, ensuring that individuals receive notifications related to government matters. The digital ID itself will be issued through platforms approved by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, reinforcing centralized control over identity verification and digital access.
