Khamenei Eliminated, War Escalates

Mar 2, 2026

From the rooftop of the IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed what many believed would mark a historic turning point in the Middle East: Israel eliminated Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with dozens of senior regime figures. Netanyahu declared that Israeli forces are striking “in the heart of Tehran” and warned that operations will intensify in the coming days. Yet even amid military success, the cost has been sobering. Iranian missile strikes, including one that hit a public bomb shelter near Jerusalem, claimed civilian lives and left many wounded. Israel is fighting not only for deterrence, but for survival.

This is no limited exchange. Netanyahu described the campaign as one bringing “the full force of the IDF, as never before, to ensure our existence and our future.” High-level security consultations are ongoing as Israel braces for retaliation from Iran’s remaining leadership and its proxy networks across the region. The removal of a Supreme Leader does not automatically dissolve an ideology. Tehran’s regime has long fused political power with apocalyptic religious conviction. Now, with its highest authority eliminated, the region stands on a knife’s edge as the possibility of broader war looms.
