American Christian missionary pilot Kevin Rideout has reportedly been freed after spending nearly ten months in captivity following his kidnapping in Niger. Rideout, who serves with the evangelical missions organization SIM, was abducted by three unidentified men in the capital city of Niamey in October 2025 while traveling toward the airport. His kidnappers reportedly fled toward Niger's Tillabéri region, an area plagued by Islamist terrorist organizations linked to ISIS and al-Qaeda. According to U.S. officials cited in the latest reports, Rideout is now safely in American hands, appears to be in good health, and is on his way home to the United States. Exactly how his release was secured—and which terrorist organization ultimately held him—remains unclear.
