Leaders Call to Halt AI ‘Superintelligence’ Race

Oct 23, 2025

Hundreds of influential figures — from Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak and Virgin’s Richard Branson to former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Mike Mullen, Pope Francis’ AI advisor Paolo Benanti, and even media voices like Steve Bannon and Glenn Beck — have signed a bold letter calling for an immediate halt to developing AI superintelligence. The statement, issued by the Future of Life Institute, urges a global “prohibition on the development of superintelligence” until there is a proven scientific consensus that such systems can be controlled safely and ethically — and until the public is directly involved in shaping those decisions. The signatories warn that unchecked AI progress could outpace human oversight, posing “significant risks” even as it promises solutions to global challenges.

This call for restraint comes amid growing fears that the pursuit of god-like AI power mirrors humanity’s ancient pattern of rebellion — reaching for knowledge and control without moral boundaries. As Prophecy Recon has often noted, this push toward artificial omniscience carries prophetic undertones: man seeking to become as gods, crafting intelligence in his own image. From deepfake deception to digital manipulation, the groundwork is already being laid for technologies that could redefine truth and power. The question isn’t just whether we can build superintelligence — it’s whether humanity should, or whether this rapid race toward digital divinity is paving the way for a future system of global control foretold in Scripture.
