After Iran’s State TV publishes what it purported to be a draft of the Memorandum of Understanding being crafted between the US and Iran, the White House adamantly denies its accuracy.
“This report from Iranian controlled media is not true and the MOU they ‘released’ is a complete fabrication. Nobody should believe what Iranian state media is putting out. FACTS MATTER,” the White House writes on X.
The Iranian report said the draft MoU envisioned the US withdrawing forces from Iran’s vicinity and lifting its blockade of Iran’s ports in exchange for Tehran restoring commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within a month.
Iran would still be tasked with managing ship traffic through Hormuz, in what would be a major win for Tehran, the reported draft said.
