Keep Watch!
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

In yet another horrifying attack on Christians in Nigeria, the village of Jebu in Plateau State was ambushed by armed Fulani militias in the early hours of July 14, leaving at least 32 people dead—including women, children, and even an infant. Survivors say the attackers surrounded the village around 3 a.m., opening fire and setting homes ablaze while residents slept. The local church was also destroyed, along with farmland, homes, and livestock. One of the slain was the village youth leader, Weng Dachung, who tried to organize a defense. According to witnesses, soldiers stationed nearby did not intervene and even discouraged young men from defending their village. The silence and inaction of security forces has once again left many questioning who, if anyone, will stand for the persecuted.
This latest massacre marks the fourth such attack in the Riyom area in just two months and underscores a growing pattern of violence that has claimed over 150 lives in the region since January. Families are being driven from their homes, traumatized survivors are seeking shelter under trees, and food insecurity is on the rise as farmlands are torched. Despite visits and promises from government officials, many residents fear that justice will never come. What’s happening in Plateau State is not a “farmer-herder clash”—it’s an ongoing campaign of religious and ethnic cleansing, a silent crisis that demands global attention and urgent intervention.
Stay Awake. Keep Watch.
