Med School Discord Fuels Hate & Extremism

May 19, 2025

In May 2025, Dawson College began an investigation into disturbing and aggressive social media activity traced to a Discord server named “MedServeur.” Originally intended as a resource for aspiring Quebec medical students navigating the admissions process, the server—home to over 1,400 members—had devolved into a hotbed of Islamist extremism, violent imagery, and hate-filled rhetoric targeting various groups. What began as an academic support space became a platform for spreading Islamic supremacist views and dehumanizing commentary.

Women were frequently objectified and referred to in graphic, derogatory, and racially charged terms, including being labeled “Breedable” or dismissed as “All whores.” Antisemitic language was also rampant, with Jews described as “Unnameables” who should be “Redacted.” Other posts featured racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and anti-Indigenous slurs. The vitriol persisted unchecked for months, with little opposition from within the community. Particularly troubling was the involvement of the channel's administrator, who not only encouraged but also contributed to the most offensive content. This individual was identified by peers as Ahmad Mousattat, a Dawson College student, after his Discord profile picture matched that of a now-deleted Facebook account. The scandal has since sparked widespread condemnation and raised serious concerns about the character and fitness of future professionals entrusted with public care.
