Mormon Charities Fund Terrorism

Jan 28, 2026

An explosive investigation by the Middle East Forum alleges that Mormon-affiliated charities transferred at least $140.6 million to Islamic organizations with documented ties to Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other extremist groups. According to the report, funds flowed primarily through Globus Relief, Lifting Hands International, and LDS Charities, channeling money to entities long flagged by Israel, U.S. agencies, and watchdog groups for terror financing and ideological alignment. The scale is staggering, particularly in light of the LDS Church’s vast financial resources and its global humanitarian reach, raising serious questions about oversight and vetting.

Even more troubling are the alleged partnerships in Israel and the Palestinian territories. The Mormon-operated Jerusalem Center and affiliated programs reportedly direct aid largely into Palestinian communities, with recipients and intermediaries that remain opaque. Major beneficiaries named in the investigation include Islamic Relief and Helping Hand for Relief and Development—organizations linked to Hamas leadership, Muslim Brotherhood networks, and violent jihadist movements. While framed as humanitarian assistance, the report argues that these funding streams have repeatedly intersected with groups openly hostile to Israel and unapologetic about violence, blurring the line between charity and complicity.
