Netanyahu Warns Against Palestinian Statehood

Sep 22, 2025

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Sunday that Israel will deliver a firm response to renewed international calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state, saying such a move would “endanger our existence.” Speaking at his weekly cabinet meeting ahead of his address to the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu said his upcoming speech would counter “false propaganda” and emphasize Israel’s vision of “peace through strength.” He stressed that granting statehood would amount to rewarding terrorism, particularly in light of Hamas’s attacks against Israel.

Netanyahu added that Israel would use every arena, including the UN, to fight back against what he called an “absurd reward for terror.” He vowed to present what he described as “Israel’s truth” to the world and to highlight the dangers of a Palestinian state. Following his UN remarks, Netanyahu will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, marking their fourth meeting since Trump’s second term began — a frequency he noted exceeded that of any other world leader. Netanyahu said the meeting would cover a wide range of strategic issues facing both nations.
