Netanyahu doubles down on warning that Iran might attack ahead of elections amid renewed threats

With U.S. President Donald Trump weighing a possible resumption of military operations in Iran, Israel is preparing for a renewed conflict – either in response to an Iranian provocation ahead of the Israeli elections or as part of a joint operation with American forces.

The Iranian regime has been preparing the public for the possibility of renewed fighting through propaganda activities, expanded military exercises, and political rallies, according to a recent report in The Wall Street Journal. Senior Iranian officials have publicly stated that the country’s infrastructure is being prepared for possible hostilities.

According to the WSJ, senior Iranian officials have warned Arab officials that Gulf states could be targeted if the conflict resumes, indicating Tehran could target Saudi oil facilities and United Arab Emirates information infrastructure.

Rogue behaviour by AI agents, including corporate network hacks and, most recently, Anthropic's disclosure that an AI model submitted a false homicide tip to police, has prompted warnings from researchers and fueled concerns over the fast-advancing technology.

UN General Assembly adopts pandemic declaration

The General Assembly on Monday adopted a political declaration on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, by 153 in favour to three against (Argentina, Israel and United States) with two abstentions (New Zealand and Paraguay).

The declaration is political and non-binding. It calls for stronger national, regional and international cooperation, guided by science, equity and respect for human rights, and it welcomes last year’s landmark adoption of the World Health Organization (WHO) Pandemic Agreement.

“The world has come a long way since COVID-19. We urge countries to now fulfil the commitments they have made – especially to finalize negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing system (PABS) annex, so the WHO Pandemic Agreement can be opened for signature, begin the process of ratification and enter into force as international law.”
