Iran rebuilding nuclear site struck by Israel, US
Iran is rapidly advancing reconstruction of the Taleghan 2 facility at the Parchin military complex, which has been struck twice by Israel over the past two years.
Satellite imagery published by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) shows extensive construction activity at the site and measures designed to strengthen its defenses against future aerial attacks.
The Parchin facility previously served as a testing site for explosives related to Iran’s former nuclear weapons development program. Israel struck the facility in October 2024, and it was hit again in March 2026.
Yemen conflict displaces 112,000 people inside country, thousands flee to Djibouti, UN agency says
At least 112,000 people have been displaced inside Yemen within the last two weeks as fighting continues along the country’s west coast amid a renewed conflict, while nearly 3,000 have fled by sea to Djibouti, the United Nations migration agency said on Friday.
Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi terrorists have stepped up attacks on Saudi cities and energy infrastructure while advancing along Yemen’s Red Sea coast towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a key shipping route. Responding to the Houthi offensive, the Saudi and Yemeni air forces have bombarded Houthi targets.
Nearly 3,000 people have crossed the Gulf of Aden to Djibouti in the Horn of Africa in less than a week as escalating violence has forced more families to flee, Sandrine Desamours, the representative for the UN’s refugee agency, UNHCR, told reporters in Geneva via video link from Djibouti.
At least 16 killed in suicide attack on police facility in northwest Pakistan
At least 16 people, including five police personnel, were killed in northwest Pakistan on Friday after a suicide attacker rammed an explosives-laden car into a police facility as people were praying at a mosque inside, police said.
The incident occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s Kohat city, with the vehicle ramming into an outer wall of the police facility and gunmen who accompanied it opening fire, provincial police chief Zulfikar Hameed said.

By the end of 2026, every EU country must legally offer citizens a European Digital Identity Wallet. This smartphone app holds a person’s government ID, driving licence, diploma, and other verified documents in one place and is designed to work across all 27 EU countries.
Digital rights groups warn the technology and the safeguards meant to protect it are not ready and that the wallet could become exactly the kind of surveillance tool it was designed to prevent.
“We are at maybe 50-60% of the technical standards that are needed to build this wallet,” says Thomas Lohninger, executive director of Austrian digital rights group epicenter.works and a board member of European Digital Rights (EDRi). “The other 40% are not there yet. They do not exist.”
EU’s Social Media Ban Could Bring ID Checks for Adults
As expected, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced that the EU Kids Act will propose that no child under 13 should be allowed on social media, while 13 and 14-year-olds should have limited accounts.
The announcement, just in time for the EU’s planned digital ID rollout, was made in von der Leyen’s State of the European Union address in Strasbourg on Wednesday.
According to von der Leyen, the Act would ensure that “no social media under the age of 13. No personal account under the age of 15.”
63 percent believe AI could destroy humanity: Survey
A majority of Americans are concerned that artificial intelligence poses grave risks to the future of humanity, according to a new poll released on Wednesday.
The survey found that 63 percent of U.S. adults believe this technology could someday destroy mankind.
Twenty-six percent of respondents said there was only a “moderate risk” of this result, while 20 percent indicated a “significant risk ” and 17 percent said it was “almost certain.”
The survey followed warnings from several current and former AI company employees last week about the dangers of this technology. Jacob Coxon, a former researcher for both OpenAI and Anthropic, accused the companies of “gambling with our lives.”
When asked about the motivations behind these warnings, 51 percent of respondents said these AI employees “genuinely believe” what they are saying, while 26 percent believed it is a “marketing move.” Twenty-two percent of those surveyed said they didn’t know.

Microsoft’s AI chief Mustafa Suleyman said the tech must be strictly controlled, or humanity could make “a decision we later come to bitterly regret”. There are fears a race of “robo sapiens” robots could arise. They would be much more capable than humans and could wipe us out.
Mr Suleyman said rival firm Anthropic is making a “misguided” mistake by treating its AI as if it were human, and cautioned it could create technology humanity cannot control.
