Ongoing Massacres of Alawites in Syria

In Syria's coastal provinces of Latakia and Tartus, intense clashes have erupted between security forces aligned with the new regime and loyalists of the ousted dictator Bashar Assad. Since Thursday, over 500 Alawite civilians have been killed, with total casualties reaching approximately 745, including combatants from both sides. Syrian social media is flooded with images of these battles, and there are reports suggesting that Assad supporters may be receiving external assistance, possibly from exiled elements.​


Hezbollah, a longstanding ally of Assad, has denied involvement in the ongoing conflict, dismissing allegations as baseless. Opposition-affiliated Arab media outlets report additional massacres allegedly carried out by the current regime in villages like Al-Qabu and Ain al-Arus. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, also known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani, has vowed to continue pursuing remnants of the previous regime, accusing them of attempting to destabilize the country.​


These developments in Syria signal a critical need for spiritual vigilance. The escalating violence and targeting of groups like the Alawites echo Matthew 24:6-7, where Jesus warns of wars, rumors of wars, and nation rising against nation. We are called to be watchful warriors, discerning the signs of the times and interceding for peace and protection over the afflicted regions. Engaging in spiritual warfare through prayer and standing firm in faith are essential tactics in these turbulent times.
