Organs Taken While Patients Still Alive

Dec 1, 2025

A disturbing new report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has ignited nationwide concern after revealing that organ procurement teams have, in some cases, begun harvesting organs while patients were still showing signs of life. With over 48,000 transplant operations conducted in 2024, the findings expose profound cracks in a system lacking consistent medical standards and oversight. Dr. Joseph Varon, president and chief medical officer of the Independent Medical Alliance, called the trend the “commodification of human life,” warning that the value of a human being is increasingly reduced to the monetary worth of their organs. The report confirmed multiple incidents where patients still had spontaneous breathing, intact brainstem reflexes, or incomplete neurological testing—conditions that should make organ procurement ethically impossible.

This growing disregard for human dignity reflects what Scripture calls the final-stage descent of society, where life is devalued and moral boundaries erode in the name of efficiency, profit, and technological progress. The inconsistency of “brain death” standards—varying by state, hospital, and even physician—creates a dangerous environment ripe for abuse. When a nation can no longer agree on who is actually dead, it signals a deeper spiritual collapse. As the world moves rapidly toward a system where human bodies are treated as biological commodities, believers can see clearly how this fits into the broader pattern of end-times lawlessness, deception, and the elevation of human autonomy over God’s design.
