Oscars Unmasked: Antisemitism Goes Mainstream

Mar 7, 2025

The 2025 Academy Awards night continued an ugly trend: antisemitism in the mainstream under the Hollywood spotlight. The ceremony appeared to make Jewish vilification fashionable. This disturbing development underscores how far society’s moral compass has shifted. Much like a designer label, hate was on display, dressed up as virtue signaling or “social justice” at an event beamed worldwide.

Observers with a biblical worldview weren’t surprised; they’ve seen this script before. The Bible warned that in the last days, people would call evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20). Celebrating or excusing anti-Jewish sentiment (under the guise of art or activism) is exactly that. Hollywood elites, who once fought fascism and bigotry, now flirt with them, so long as it’s anti-Israel or anti-Jewish in context. This Oscars cycle notably featured films and speeches that painted Israel and Jews as villains, drawing applause. The cultural shift is palpable: what was once fringe hate has been repackaged as a socially acceptable stance among influencers. We’re witnessing the “normalization” of the oldest hatred, a spiritual sickness that has plagued humanity since the days of Pharaoh and Haman.

The moral implications here are dire. Antisemitism isn’t just another political view; from a biblical perspective, it’s warfare against God’s chosen people (Genesis 12:3). Its rise is a hallmark of darkness in society. Prophecy indicates that all nations will turn against Israel and the Jews (Zechariah 14:2, Matthew 24:9), and what we see in pop culture is paving the way. Yet, there’s hope: shining a light on this evil is the first step to countering it. Many righteous voices (Jewish and Christian alike) are calling out Hollywood’s hypocrisy and defending truth. The Oscars 2025 debacle, while disheartening, is a wake-up call: stay alert, speak up for truth, and remember that God will bless those who bless Abraham’s descendants and curse those who curse them (Genesis 12:3).
