A new study by IMPACT-se has found that Pakistani school textbooks are filled with antisemitic stereotypes, distorted historical accounts, and narratives that justify violence. Examining over 80 textbooks across subjects like Islamic education, history, and social sciences, researchers discovered consistent negative portrayals of Jews, including depictions of them as “inherently treacherous” and responsible for suffering caused to Jesus and his mother. The Holocaust is notably absent from the curriculum, with some texts even praising Adolf Hitler for restoring German pride while ignoring the atrocities he committed. Meanwhile, Judaism itself is excluded entirely from comparative religion sections, further entrenching prejudice among young students.

The study also highlights how recent conflicts are framed in a biased way, with Israel presented as the sole aggressor in Gaza, while Hamas’s October 7, 2023, massacre is erased from the narrative. Beyond antisemitism, the textbooks reinforce militant interpretations of jihad, portraying armed struggle as a religious duty to protect the oppressed, effectively justifying violence under the guise of moral obligation. Experts warn that such education has long-term consequences, shaping Pakistan’s future worldview and its stance toward Israel and the Jewish people. Given Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities and young population, these teachings not only fuel intolerance but also pose a serious risk to regional stability and international relations.
