Keep Watch!
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

A revealing moment unfolded this week as Kristi Noem confirmed that Americans may be asked to prove their citizenship during Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations. While framed as “targeted enforcement,” the admission signals a deeper shift: identity verification is no longer limited to borders or airports, but is increasingly embedded in everyday encounters. In certain situations, citizens may be required to “validate who they are and why they’re there,” a phrase that would have sounded unthinkable to earlier generations.
Supporters argue this is a practical necessity in an era of mass migration and organized crime. Yet the implications are sobering. When law enforcement normalizes on-the-spot identity checks for citizens, the line between targeted enforcement and general compliance begins to blur. What starts as situational verification can quickly become expectation—especially as digital records, biometric IDs, and centralized databases make instant validation easier and more tempting to use.
Revelation 13 describes a future system where participation in society is conditional—where access depends on authorization. Requiring proof of identity to move freely is not the Mark of the Beast, but it is foundational infrastructure. Scripture warns that control will tighten gradually, normalized by security and efficiency. As identity becomes permission, believers should stay alert, discerning the times and guarding liberty with wisdom and truth.
