"Peace" Without the Prince of Peace

Jan 22, 2026

Standing before the global elite at the World Economic Forum, Donald Trump confidently declared, “We’re going to have peace in the world,” unveiling the charter of his newly formed Board of Peace. A lineup of regional and international powerbrokers—including Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE—quickly signed on, with Benjamin Netanyahu signaling his intent to join as well. The Board’s inaugural action was the adoption of a Gaza resolution modeled after UN Resolution 2803, fueling speculation that this new body could one day supplant the United Nations as the world’s primary conflict arbiter. The language was sweeping, optimistic, and global in scope—peace not just for Gaza, but for the world.

What followed reinforced that vision. Marco Rubio praised the administration’s accomplishments, while Gaza’s technocratic leadership framed the Board as a “lifeline.” Jared Kushner outlined an ambitious plan to rebuild Gaza into multiple cities with transit infrastructure and a coastal tourism zone, promising security first, borders later, and calm now. Repeated calls were made for fear to be set aside and for the region to embrace a new chapter. Yet conspicuously absent from the proceedings was any meaningful resolution of core grievances—hostages still held, terror networks not fully dismantled, and Israel being pressed toward international oversight in the name of stability.

Scripture warns that in the last days leaders will proclaim “peace and safety,” precisely when true peace is not present (1 Thessalonians 5:3). The Bible is equally clear that lasting peace will not be achieved through global councils, international charters, or technocratic governance—but only through the Messianic reign of Jesus Christ, the true Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Every human attempt to manufacture peace apart from Him will be temporary, fragile, and ultimately deceptive. What the world hails as progress may instead be positioning the nations for the final, false peace that precedes the return of Christ—because there will be no true peace on this side of His Kingdom.
