Presbyterian Church Embraces Apostasy

Jun 12, 2025

The Presbyterian Church (USA) has taken a decisive and troubling turn with the adoption of Amendment 24-C, which mandates screening clergy candidates based on their views regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. This policy effectively disqualifies individuals who hold a traditional, biblical view of sexuality from serving in ministry. Once a denomination rooted in the authority of Scripture and the principles of the Reformation, PCUSA has now codified a litmus test that prioritizes progressive ideology over theological conviction. Those who believe in the necessity of repentance, the reality of sin, and the transformative power of the Gospel are no longer welcome to lead within the denomination.

This shift signals more than theological drift—it reveals a full embrace of spiritual apostasy under the guise of inclusivity. The faithful who remain are being systematically filtered out, not for moral failure or lack of competence, but for their commitment to Scripture. As PCUSA redefines qualifications for ministry to reflect cultural norms instead of biblical truth, it ceases to function as a true church in the New Testament sense. This is a sobering moment of reckoning for those within the denomination: stay and legitimize compromise, or leave and stand firm in obedience to Christ. As Joshua declared, "Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15 ).
