Prophecy Ignored, Deception Embraced

May 19, 2025

In many churches today, Bible prophecy is often dismissed as unimportant or too controversial to be taught from the pulpit. Pastors shy away from preaching about the Rapture, the Tribulation, or Christ’s thousand-year reign for fear of offending congregants or driving them away. Some even categorize prophecy as merely a “tertiary” doctrine—of minor significance. But this mindset couldn’t be further from the truth. The neglect of biblical teaching on future events has created a theological vacuum, one that false teachers have eagerly filled with distorted views about the Church, Israel, and Christ’s return. As a result, dangerous doctrines like Dominion Theology have gained traction—claiming that the Church will usher in a golden age before Jesus returns.

This confusion has found its way into the highest levels of leadership. One of Dominion Theology’s most prominent advocates, televangelist Paula White, now holds a position inside the White House. White, known for her prosperity gospel messaging and errant theology, has become a spiritual advisor to President Donald Trump. Her unbiblical views, including the denial of Israel’s central role in God’s prophetic plan and the rejection of a future Tribulation, influence her counsel. While President Trump has demonstrated strong support for Israel, one must question whether White’s misguided beliefs may cloud key decisions—especially regarding Israel’s future. Her rise to power highlights the critical need for sound biblical teaching on prophecy. When churches remain silent on these truths, false teachers thrive, misleading millions and steering the Church—and the nation—away from God’s revealed plan.

Though God’s sovereign plan will unfold regardless of human error or deception, the Church still bears responsibility. The absence of prophetic preaching has enabled the ascent of figures like Paula White and the spread of false hope within the Christian community. Without a clear understanding of God’s future promises and judgments, believers are left vulnerable to deception, often placing their trust in personalities rather than in the truth of Scripture. It is essential that pastors reclaim the full counsel of God—including prophecy—so that the Church may stand firm, discerning truth from error, and clinging to the blessed hope of Christ’s imminent return.

Stay Awake. Keep Watch.
