Report: Mass Executions Rising in Iran

Mar 24, 2026

A new report has revealed a staggering escalation of human rights abuses in Iran, as activists warn that the regime may be preparing for another wave of mass executions to suppress growing unrest. According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), tens of thousands of individuals have been arrested on political or ideological grounds over the past year, with thousands reportedly killed during nationwide protests. The report details widespread repression, including torture, sexual abuse, and violent crackdowns targeting not only protesters but also medical personnel and vulnerable populations.

Among the most alarming findings is the continued use of executions as a tool of control, with at least 2,488 people executed in the past year alone, including women and even children. Many of these executions were carried out under questionable legal practices, often targeting the poor and ethnic minorities. Reports also indicate that some executions were conducted in secret, denying families any opportunity for closure. Human rights groups warn that over 100 detainees are currently at risk, signaling that the regime may be preparing for further escalation as it seeks to maintain its grip on power.
