At least 40 Israeli citizens were reportedly detained for several hours after arriving from Tel Aviv at Domodedovo Airport. Israel confirmed the incident after Russian reports said the travelers were questioned over suspected ties to Israel’s war with Iran. According to reports, security personnel told detainees that Iran is an ally of Russia and that anyone considered an enemy of Iran would be viewed as Russia’s enemy as well.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry said it intervened immediately through diplomatic channels after learning of the detentions. Following those efforts, the travelers were released and permitted entry. A source familiar with the matter said the group was held for around five hours without food, water, or restroom access, while some were reportedly pressured to unlock their phones. Before release, detainees were said to have signed documents warning against future legal violations.
