Russia has reportedly been secretly assisting Iran in the development of advanced supersonic cruise-missile technology, adding a dangerous new dimension to the rapidly expanding military relationship between Moscow and Tehran. According to reporting cited by The Jerusalem Post, the clandestine program—codenamed C430L—began in 2023 and was arranged through Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport in cooperation with NPO Mashinostroyenia, a major Russian missile manufacturer sanctioned by the United States. Senior Russian engineers specializing in cruise missiles, aerodynamics, ballistics, and supersonic ramjet propulsion reportedly traveled repeatedly to Iran to provide technical expertise. By 2025, Russian engineers were analyzing Iranian technical materials and communicating directly with Tehran as the project continued to develop. Experts believe the technology could ultimately be used by Iran to develop advanced missiles capable of striking ships and targets on land.
