British security officials are sounding the alarm over a disturbing rise in the online grooming of children by extremist groups, including a network investigators describe as a satanic cult. According to counterterrorism authorities, children as young as ten years old—and in some cases even younger—are being targeted through online video games, chat platforms, and social media networks. The problem has grown so severe that one in five terrorism-related arrests in the United Kingdom now involves minors. Authorities report that extremist recruiters are increasingly exploiting digital spaces where children gather, turning entertainment platforms into gateways for radicalization and abuse.
Among the groups drawing particular concern is an online network known as “764,” which investigators allege uses manipulation, blackmail, and psychological coercion to exploit vulnerable young people. Reports claim members pressure children into sending explicit material, engaging in self-harm, and participating in increasingly dangerous behavior. British law enforcement officials revealed that thousands of individuals referred to anti-radicalization programs had encountered grooming efforts through gaming platforms. Even more alarming, investigators reported cases involving children as young as eight years old being targeted online by predators and extremists.
