SCOTUS Takes On Religious School Case

Mar 31, 2025

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a groundbreaking case involving the creation of the first religious public charter school in the United States. At the heart of the issue is Oklahoma’s St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School, which state officials approved last year. The case raises critical questions about whether religious institutions can receive public funding to operate charter schools while still maintaining their religious identity and teachings.

Supporters argue that excluding religious groups from charter school programs violates the Constitution’s Free Exercise Clause, especially in light of recent rulings that expanded protections for religious institutions in public funding contexts. The potential blending of government control and religious education could set a dangerous precedent for future restrictions or compromises on the gospel message. Ultimately, this battle is not just legal—it reflects a spiritual war over who defines truth and authority in the hearts of the next generation. READ MORE
