Sharia Double Standards in the West

Aug 25, 2025

In July, a young man in Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria, was arrested simply for shouting, “We love bacon” during a protest against the construction of a new mosque. What should have been harmless cultural expression was branded “racially abusive” under Britain’s Public Order Act of 1986. Police treated him as if he were a violent criminal, hauling him away for celebrating a food item that represents traditional English identity. Unlike other faiths that abstain from certain foods without imposing those standards on society, Islam’s influence in Britain has increasingly pushed pigs, pork, and even dogs out of public symbolism and culture. Footage from the protest shows officers swooping in almost instantly after the remark was made.

In August, across the Atlantic, police in Dearborn, Michigan, arrested 27-year-old Anthony Young for posting a "reckless" but non-threatening comment about the city’s Arba’een march. Despite the lack of a direct threat, police raided his home, slapped him with a GPS tether, and banned him from the internet—all for a Facebook post. Meanwhile, at Dearborn rallies, crowds have openly chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” under the leadership of radical clerics such as Imam Husham Al-Husainy, a known Hezbollah sympathizer. City leaders like Mayor Abdullah Hammoud and Police Chief Issa Shahin have taken no action against these open incitements to violence, yet they promise “zero tolerance” for anyone who dares to criticize or offend their community. The double standard is striking—and deeply alarming.
