Six-Planet Parade in the Heavens

Feb 25, 2026

A rare six-planet alignment will grace the western sky just after sunset on February 28, forming what astronomers call a “planet parade.” Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Venus, and Mercury will appear clustered along the ecliptic, the same path the sun traces across the heavens. While only a few will be visible to the naked eye, the spectacle remains a striking reminder of the precision and order built into God’s creation. Though planetary alignments occur periodically, a grouping of six is uncommon enough to capture global attention.

Observers will have a brief viewing window—roughly 30 minutes to an hour after sunset—before several of the planets dip below the horizon. A nearly full waxing gibbous moon may partially obscure visibility, and the alignment itself will be short-lived as each planet continues its orbit at different speeds. Additional celestial events are on the calendar in the coming months including:

  • March 2-3: Total lunar eclipse as known as "blood moon" will be visible for the western regions of North America, as well as Oceania and Asia.

  • March 20: March equinox will occur on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 10:46 a.m. EDT.

  • April 22: The Lyrid meteor shower will peak on the night of April 21-22.

  • May 6: The Eta Aquarid meteor shower will peak in the pre-dawn hours of May 6.

  • June 21: June solstice or summer solstice will occur on Sunday, June 21 at 4:24 a.m. EDT.

The heavens continue their steady rhythm, governed by immutable laws set in place long before telescopes ever existed.
