The proposed policy outlined ambitious plans, including the creation of a National AI Commission, an AI Ethics Board, and a regulatory authority, along with financial incentives to encourage innovation. However, the discovery of fabricated sources undermined confidence in the document’s credibility and forced its immediate withdrawal. Government leaders have stated that there will be consequences for those responsible and emphasized the importance of human oversight when using AI tools in critical decision-making.
The incident serves as another example of how quickly reliance on artificial intelligence can lead to confusion and error when truth is not carefully guarded. Systems designed to process information are now shaping policies and influencing national direction, yet even those systems can produce falsehoods that go unnoticed.
