Sudan’s Abraham Accords Role Meets Prophecy

Aug 13, 2025

Sudan’s place in the Abraham Accords was one of the most remarkable — and fragile — developments in Middle East diplomacy. In 2020, its leaders agreed in principle to normalize ties with Israel, a historic move tied to removal from the U.S. State Sponsors of Terrorism list. This shift marked a significant break from decades of hostility, signaling a willingness to integrate into a new regional order. Early 2023 brought renewed momentum as Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen met with General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in Khartoum, but the nation’s descent into civil war abruptly stalled the process. The normalization Sudan sought now hangs in limbo, caught between promise and political collapse.

Sudan’s instability also intersects with Ezekiel 38–39, where “Cush” (ancient Sudan/Ethiopia region) is listed among the nations that will align with Gog in the coming battle against Israel in the last days. The current chaos — coupled with shifting alliances and regional entanglements — may be laying the groundwork for that alignment. While its engagement with the Abraham Accords once hinted at peace and integration, Scripture warns of a different trajectory, one that ultimately places Sudan among the hostile coalition against God’s people. In this light, Sudan’s present turmoil is not just a geopolitical crisis, but part of a larger prophetic puzzle moving steadily toward fulfillment.
