A suspected suicide bombing outside a police station in Pakistan's Swat district has left at least 17 people dead and dozens more injured, underscoring the nation's worsening security crisis. The explosion occurred near a pro-police rally in the Kabal area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where local residents had gathered to demonstrate against rising militant violence. Officials say seven police officers and ten civilians were among those killed, while more than 30 others were wounded. The Pakistani Taliban (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack, and authorities have launched an operation to identify anyone who assisted the bomber.
The attack is the latest in a growing wave of terrorist violence that has gripped Pakistan's northwestern frontier. The region has experienced a steady resurgence of Islamist militant activity in recent years, with repeated attacks targeting security forces, civilians, and public gatherings. Pakistani officials continue to accuse militants of operating from safe havens across the Afghan border, while the TTP has intensified its campaign against the Pakistani government.
