Sydney Massacre Sparks Antisemitic Lies

Dec 15, 2025

In the aftermath of the deadly antisemitic terror attack at a Chanukah event in Sydney, watchdog group CyberWell is warning of a disturbing secondary assault—an explosion of online hatred and conspiracy theories targeting Jews. Within hours of the massacre that left 16 dead and dozens wounded, social media platforms were flooded with dehumanizing mockery of Jewish victims, explicit calls for further violence, and coded antisemitic imagery designed to evade moderation. CyberWell described the trend as a “surge of hatred and incitement,” noting that antisemitism often intensifies immediately following real-world attacks on Jewish communities.

Most alarming is the rapid spread of a familiar and dangerous lie: claims that the massacre was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by Israel’s Mossad. Antisemites online falsely accused the victims themselves—and the Jewish state—of responsibility, even inventing claims that one of the attackers had served in the IDF. This reflexive blame-shifting reflects an ancient pattern of hatred, where Jews are not only targeted by violence but accused of engineering their own suffering. As Scripture warns, truth will be trampled in the last days (Isaiah 59:14), and hatred of the Jewish people will intensify. What followed the Sydney massacre was not random online noise—it was a coordinated spiritual and ideological response that reveals just how normalized antisemitism has become in the digital age.
