Retired Texas police lieutenant David Grantham has raised alarms about the EPIC City project near Dallas, describing it as "phase two" of a Sharia-compliant enclave already operating for 12 years in Plano, Texas. Grantham warns that this new development by the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC), planned to span over 400 acres, is intended to establish a separate, self-contained Islamic community governed by Sharia law, following the model of the existing EPIC mosque and surrounding area.
According to Grantham, the original EPIC mosque in Plano has enforced Sharia-based guidelines for more than a decade. He cautions that the new larger development is not merely a real estate project but a strategic expansion of Islamic law and influence within the United States, stating explicitly that EPIC City is a continuation of existing practices rather than an isolated venture.
The establishment of separate communities governed by religious laws outside of American civil law reflects the growing global fragmentation. Scripture warns believers to be vigilant against false systems and ideologies that rise to prominence, especially as we approach the last days (Matthew 24:4-5, 2 Timothy 4:3-4).
