Texas Imam's Radical Ties Exposed

May 23, 2025

Texas is home to many religious leaders, yet not all promote peace and coexistence. Some arrive equipped with ideological training aimed at domination rather than integration. Among them is Imam Hisham Bakr Khalaf, who currently leads the East Texas Islamic Society. He is a senior Islamic scholar educated and credentialed by the Egyptian state, which has long been known for exporting political Islam and advancing Sharia supremacist ideologies. His background reflects not merely spiritual leadership but a deep-rooted affiliation with a system built to enforce ideological conformity through religious authority.

Imam Hisham is a graduate of Al-Azhar University, a prominent institution in Sunni Islam that operates as both an educational center and a state-controlled theological authority. Al-Azhar is not just a university; it is the ideological engine behind Sunni religious authoritarianism, issuing official fatwas, defending apostasy and blasphemy laws, and reinforcing a strict Sharia-based worldview. The university has a documented history of supporting Egypt’s blasphemy laws—used to imprison converts to Christianity and silence reformers—and labeling critics of Islamic law as “spreading corruption on Earth,” a charge that can carry the death penalty. Its curriculum has promoted jihad until global Islamic governance is achieved, denies Muslims the right to convert to other faiths, and includes anti-Semitic content as well as teachings of hostility toward non-Muslims. Al-Azhar even forbids the teaching of philosophy, deeming it a threat to the Islamic faith.
