The Anti-Zionist Virus in the Church

Nov 3, 2025

A growing “ideological virus” is spreading among young evangelicals—one that redefines Israel as irrelevant to God’s prophetic plan and distorts the identity of Jesus Himself. Once a foundational truth of the faith, support for Israel among evangelicals aged 18 to 29 has plummeted from 69% in 2018 to barely 33% in 2021. The term Zionism, rooted in the biblical belief that God granted the Jewish people a covenant land and destiny, is now treated as a slur. This erosion of biblical literacy has given rise to a generation untethered from the prophetic connection between Israel, the Messiah, and God’s redemptive plan for the nations. Scripture leaves no ambiguity—Israel’s covenant with God is irrevocable (Romans 11:29), its national survival as sure as the sun and stars (Jeremiah 31:35–37). To deny Israel’s divine purpose is to deny the Christ who will reign from Zion over a restored Israel and the nations (Luke 1:32–33; Zechariah 14:9).

This deception—fueled by social media propaganda, de-Judaized teaching, and ignorance of Romans 9–11—has birthed a theology that subtly morphs anti-Zionism into anti-Christ sentiment. Anti-Zionism rejects the throne and kingship of the Messiah, who is Himself the “Anointed One” promised to the line of David. As the Apostle Paul warned, those who reject the truth will believe a lie (2 Thessalonians 2:11). But the antidote is clear: the Word of God. Jesus declared, “Your word is truth” (John 17:17), and it alone anchors believers amid deception. For this generation of Christians, the battle over Israel’s legitimacy is not merely political—it is prophetic. Standing with Israel is standing with Christ, for the two cannot be separated. And as darkness rises, the call to the faithful is simple: rise, speak, and stand firm until the true King of Israel returns to reign from Zion.
