For decades, the mysterious Paracas skulls of Peru have fueled speculation, controversy, and endless debate. These unusual remains, first discovered nearly a century ago, are known for their dramatically elongated craniums. Most mainstream researchers have attributed their appearance to intentional cranial deformation, a practice used by various ancient cultures. However, alternative researchers have long argued that the skulls may represent something far more unusual, including the possibility of unknown human ancestry or even evidence of extraterrestrial influence in the ancient world.
In an effort to settle the question, researchers from Liberty University recently conducted new DNA testing using samples taken from the teeth of several specimens. Teeth are often considered one of the best sources for recovering ancient genetic material because they tend to preserve DNA better than other skeletal remains. Unfortunately, the study failed to produce the breakthrough many had hoped for. The amount of recoverable DNA was simply too degraded and insufficient to provide meaningful genetic conclusions. As a result, the testing neither confirmed nor disproved the various theories surrounding the skulls.
