Public debate over the Middle East conflict took a controversial turn this week after media personality Tucker Carlson denounced Jews and Christians who believe in the biblical prophecy of a future temple in Jerusalem. During a lengthy broadcast discussing the war with Iran, Carlson suggested that Israel was manipulating the United States into conflict and claimed that belief in the rebuilding of the Third Temple on the Temple Mount was “deranged and demonic.” His comments targeted both Orthodox Jews who anticipate a restored temple and Christians who interpret Scripture as predicting such an event.
Carlson argued that the Temple Mount—currently home to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock—holds immense religious significance for the Islamic world and that talk of rebuilding a Jewish temple there is dangerous. In his remarks, he accused Israel of pursuing regional expansion and suggested that support for a future temple is part of a larger geopolitical agenda. His statements quickly sparked reactions across religious and political communities, particularly among those who see the rebuilding of the Temple as part of the biblical narrative concerning Jerusalem’s future.
