Tisha B’Av on the Temple Mount

Aug 4, 2025

On Tisha B’Av, thousands of Jewish worshippers ascended the Temple Mount in Jerusalem in an unprecedented display that included singing—something previously prohibited on the holy site. Among the visitors was National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, joining others in marking the solemn fast day. This year, Israeli police implemented new procedures that allowed for public expressions of faith, signaling a significant shift in policy toward Jewish worship on the Temple Mount.

The head of the Temple Mount Administration praised the development, calling it a meaningful step toward “the redemption process of the holy mount” and the eventual rebuilding of the Temple. He thanked police leadership for enabling the increased Jewish presence and facilitating the ascents, noting that each visit advances the people of Israel’s connection to the site. The move represents not only a religious milestone but also a politically sensitive change with deep prophetic significance for many in Israel and around the world.
