Keep Watch!
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

A new analysis from the UCLA Williams Institute reveals that more than 2.8 million Americans now identify as transgender, including approximately 724,000 youth. The study, which draws from federal surveys and state health data between 2021 and 2023, offers the most comprehensive picture yet of the transgender population in the United States. Researchers found that 1% of the population aged 13 and older identifies as transgender, with young adults between 18 and 24 nearly seven times more likely to identify as transgender than those over 65. The findings also highlight a relatively consistent distribution across the country, with Minnesota having the highest rate of transgender adults and Hawaii reporting the highest percentage of transgender youth.
The study, released alongside growing political tension over LGBTQ+ issues, warns that it could be the last of its kind for years. The authors caution that ongoing policy changes under the Trump administration—including removing references to transgender people from federal data collection—could erase visibility in key health and crime surveys. With more than two-thirds of identified adults split almost evenly between trans women, trans men, and non-binary individuals, the report stresses the importance of accurate data to inform health programs and protections, even as cultural and political debates intensify nationwide.
The growing normalization of transgender identities reflects a larger cultural shift that departs from God’s design for humanity. Scripture teaches that God created mankind “male and female” (Genesis 1:27), a foundational truth tied directly to His image and order. When society abandons these boundaries, confusion and brokenness take root, leading to distorted understandings of identity. Romans 1:25-27 warns of a time when humanity would exchange God’s truth for lies, embracing unnatural desires and rejecting His order. While Christians must speak truth with compassion, we must also recognize this trend as part of the moral and spiritual decline foretold in Scripture. It is a reminder to anchor our identity not in shifting cultural trends but in Christ, who alone brings restoration and clarity to a confused world.
