Trump Declares ‘Peace’ in the Middle East

Dec 18, 2025

In a nationwide end-of-year address from the White House, President Donald Trump declared that the Middle East is experiencing “peace for the first time in 3,000 years,” crediting his administration with ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of hostages. Trump framed the ceasefire as a historic breakthrough, portraying it as a defining achievement of his presidency and a turning point for the region. However, his remarks notably omitted mention of Ran Gvili, the last known hostage still believed to be held in Gaza, raising questions about the completeness of the claimed resolution.

The declaration also comes amid mounting doubts about the durability of the ceasefire itself. Less than a week earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the assassination of senior Hamas figure Ra’ad Sa’ad following repeated ceasefire violations, underscoring how fragile the situation remains. For students of Bible prophecy, proclamations of “peace” followed closely by renewed violence echo long-standing biblical warnings that declarations of safety can precede sudden upheaval. As headlines speak of peace, events on the ground suggest the Middle East remains a tinderbox—reminding watchful believers that true and lasting peace has yet to come.
