The timing is staggering: this transition is moving forward even though Hamas still refuses to return the body of Israeli hostage Ran Gvili—rewarding terror while stripping Israel of one of its last points of leverage.

Families of the hostages are sounding the alarm, warning that this rushed move allows Hamas to regroup, rebrand, and survive behind a new political façade. Israel had insisted that the Rafah crossing remain closed until Gvili was returned, but that condition is now being bypassed in the name of “progress.” As international powers race toward optics of stability, justice is being buried. This is the familiar global pattern: impose a diplomatic structure before evil has been defeated, then call it peace while the architects of violence remain.
