Trump Warns Iran, Urges Path to Peace

May 14, 2025

During his first major speech in Saudi Arabia, President Donald Trump delivered a stern warning to Iran, presenting a clear ultimatum: abandon nuclear ambitions or face severe repercussions. While expressing hope for diplomacy and economic growth in Iran, Trump condemned the regime for prioritizing terrorism and regional violence over the well-being of its citizens. He accused Iran’s leadership of diverting national wealth to fund militant groups like Hezbollah and support oppressive regimes such as Bashar al-Assad's in Syria, actions he said have led to unnecessary suffering and instability across the Middle East.

Trump also criticized the Biden administration’s decision to ease certain sanctions on Iran, claiming this enabled financial support to terrorist organizations, including Hamas, which he linked to the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel. Despite his harsh criticism of Iran’s current leadership, Trump emphasized that he does not believe in permanent enemies and expressed openness to a new chapter in U.S.-Iran relations—provided the Iranian government chooses a path of peace and reform. He concluded by urging Iran’s leaders to embrace change and seize the opportunity for a better future.
