While expressing hope for diplomacy and economic growth in Iran, Trump condemned the regime for prioritizing terrorism and regional violence over the well-being of its citizens. He accused Iran’s leadership of diverting national wealth to fund militant groups like Hezbollah and support oppressive regimes such as Bashar al-Assad's in Syria, actions he said have led to unnecessary suffering and instability across the Middle East.
Trump also criticized the Biden administration’s decision to ease certain sanctions on Iran, claiming this enabled financial support to terrorist organizations, including Hamas, which he linked to the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel.
