UAE Cuts Funding for Citizens Studying in UK

Jan 12, 2026

A stunning geopolitical reversal is unfolding. The United Arab Emirates has cut state funding for its citizens studying at UK universities, citing fears that students are being radicalized by Islamist networks operating openly on Western campuses. For the first time, no British universities appear on the UAE’s 2026 approved scholarship list, even as Israel, France, and the United States remain eligible. What once symbolized Western academic prestige is now viewed by a Muslim nation as a breeding ground for ideological extremism.

Emirati officials and analysts say Muslim Brotherhood–linked groups have embedded themselves inside UK universities, transforming lecture halls into hubs of antisemitism and jihadist ideology disguised as political activism. According to Emirati expert Amjad Taha, British and Irish campuses have become “echo chambers of extremism” where violence is reframed as resistance and hatred of Israel is normalized. The UAE, which bans the Muslim Brotherhood and criminalizes antisemitism, sees this as a direct threat to its citizens’ future—and is acting accordingly. When an Arab state warns that Europe’s universities are incubating radical Islam, the alarm could not be louder.

This reflects the growing spiritual and ideological chaos of the last days. Scripture warns of increasing lawlessness, deception, and hatred of Israel (Matthew 24:9–12). What we are witnessing is not just political polarization but the normalization of ideologies hostile to biblical truth, Jewish identity, and Western moral foundations. As institutions once known for learning become vehicles for radicalization, the world is being primed for the kind of global deception and division Revelation describes. The shaking has begun—and it is accelerating.
