UN Budget Targets Israel, Envoy Warns

Dec 24, 2025

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, has accused the international body of allocating roughly $100 million per year to investigate, condemn, and incite against the Jewish state. In a video message ahead of the UN’s 2026 budget vote, Danon said the funding supports inquiries and programs “hostile to Israel,” arguing that the organization’s focus has become an obsession that diverts resources from genuine humanitarian crises and the global fight against terrorism.

Danon further noted that the figure does not include an additional $80 million earmarked for UNRWA, which has faced repeated allegations of ties to terror groups, including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. He cited reports that some UNRWA employees were linked to the October 7 massacre and hostage-taking, calling on the UN to stop funding entities accused of abetting terror and instead pursue accountability. Until then, Danon said, Israel will continue to push back against what he described as a sustained campaign of bias within the UN system.
