UN Demands Israel Retreat from Golan, Judea

Dec 3, 2025

The United Nations General Assembly has once again inserted itself into Israel’s sovereign security decisions, passing two non-binding resolutions that demand Israel retreat from both the Golan Heights and Judea and Samaria. The first measure, submitted by Egypt, declared Israel’s 1981 annexation of the Golan Heights “null and void,” calling Israel’s presence there “illegal.” With a decisive 123–7 vote, the UN demanded Israel withdraw to the pre-1967 lines—ignoring the decades of Syrian instability, Iranian entrenchment, and the simple reality that more than 30,000 Israelis now live in the area. Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon blasted the vote as yet another example of the UN’s “disconnect from reality,” emphasizing that Israel will never return to indefensible borders nor abandon a region critical to its national defense.

In a second lopsided vote—151 in favor, 11 against—the General Assembly demanded that Israel withdraw from Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem. While the resolutions are non-binding, their overwhelming support reveals the growing international pressure campaign targeting Israel’s biblical heartland and ancient capital. As Syria simultaneously pushes for a partial Israeli withdrawal from the Golan, these votes show a world increasingly aligned against Israel’s security and sovereignty. From a prophetic standpoint, the nations once again gather in unified opposition to Israel’s existence—echoing the warnings of Zechariah and Joel about the last-days hostility that will set the stage for God’s intervention. The UN may demand Israel retreat, but Scripture is clear: the God of Israel determines her borders, not the nations.
