UN Underreports Gaza Aid Deliveries

Aug 22, 2025

A major gap has surfaced between Israel’s and the United Nations’ reporting on humanitarian aid entering Gaza. Israeli authorities state that 9,200 trucks have crossed into Gaza since May, but UN figures record only 3,553. This leaves nearly 6,000 truckloads of aid unaccounted for—over 60% of actual deliveries excluded from official UN reporting. The discrepancy raises concerns that world leaders and media are being presented with an incomplete and distorted picture of the humanitarian situation.

According to Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), the UN’s data collection methods are fundamentally flawed. Rather than tallying every truck that crosses into Gaza, the UN only counts trucks collected on its side, omitting thousands of shipments that never make it into their system—often due to logistical failures or theft once inside Gaza. Israeli officials argue this selective reporting downplays the scale of aid provided and conceals the mismanagement and diversion of supplies on the ground.
