The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) has become a tragic example of what happens when heresy is not only tolerated but celebrated. Where once false teachers had to sneak in, they now preach openly from pulpits—undeterred and unchallenged. This isn't just about one rogue sermon; it's a denominational pattern of rejecting the authority of Scripture and embracing a theology that aligns more with progressive culture than biblical truth. Pastors now claim Jesus was mistaken, suggest that the Great Commission is optional, and promote a gospel void of repentance or exclusivity. It is apostasy in real time, and tragically, many congregants sit quietly, deceived into thinking tolerance is love and error is enlightenment. They no longer recognize the voice of the Good Shepherd because they've grown accustomed to wolves in the pulpit.
This spiritual rebellion isn't just a denominational crisis—it’s a warning to the global Church. The Bible foresaw this: a time when people would reject sound doctrine and chase after teachers who tell them what they want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3). That time is now. And while many sheep remain either silent or complicit, the Church must respond—not with outrage alone, but with unwavering truth and bold proclamation. A pastor who corrects Jesus isn’t a pastor, and a gospel without the cross is no gospel at all. It's time for watchmen to rise, for pulpits to be reclaimed, and for truth to once again thunder in the house of God. The wolves are preaching, yes—but the true shepherds must not remain silent.
